I wish I had bought other pregnancy books. This is too general and does not answer many questions. Okay for first book on general pregnancy, but great for reference.

If your the type of person who is totally into the western medical perspective, going to doctors for pregnancy care, and having a medically managed birth in the hospital, then this is the book for you.

It is highly medically oriented, and comes from a seemingly neutral and non-passionate perspective. Their are lots of graphics and pictures. The book might be titled, “what to expect from pregnancy if you go the conventional route.”

If your looking for something alternative and vital, you might try, Healing Our Children: Because Your New Baby Matters! Sacred Wisdom for Preconception, Pregnancy, Birth and Parenting (ages 0-6).

The information in the book is very useful. However, a few of the photographs are a little too much for my conservative tastes. For example, do we really need actual photographs of how to make love when we are pregnant, couldn’t we just have a written description? So, like I said, the information is good, but it is not a book I want my children to stumble upon. In the end, I wish I would have chosen another book that also had updated info but without the actual photographs.

I recently bought this book because my wife is pregnant and I wanted to know all about what was going on, what could be done for her, and the essentials to know when the baby is first born. I normally don’t review anything that I buy but I found some important information inside this book that is wrong.

Toxoplasmosis. This book says it can be found in outdoor cats, but not indoor cats. Some information that everyone should know is that indoor cats CAN have it! My wife recently became sick with Toxoplasmosis and the doctor told her that while it’s more common in outdoor cats, it’s very possible for indoor cats to get it. I guess it’s easy for cats to get it if they eat CANNED food.

We were also told that if one of your cats gets toxoplasmosis any other cats you have n the same house will more than likely receive it too.

Different ways you can get this disease: Petting cats, cleaning cat liter boxes, and even sleeping in a bed that a cat that has toxoplasmosis has slept on! This is a very big issue and I can’t believe the book didn’t mention this.

Because of the wrong information in this book and us thinking our cats were good since they’re indoors has led my wife to getting toxoplasmosis. And because we don’t believe in abortion, if our child becomes mentally handicapped because of this… Well, you get the idea.

Just be careful with where you get your information and double check EVERYTHING. Consult your doctor if you have any worries.
